Common Limiting Beliefs
Common Limiting Beliefs
“I lack motivation.”
“I don’t have time.”
“It’s too late to change.”
“I don’t know where to start.”
Exploring limiting beliefs and moving beyond them:
“I lack motivation.”
Do you really, or are you just fed up with failed attempts?
Is the environment and the people around you draining you?
Are you using motivation as an excuse to avoid doing something you don't want to do?
What can you do to motivate yourself (see the ‘Motivation’ week for guidance).
Examine your environment - is it energising you or draining you? How can you change this? Examine the people you spend time with - are they encouraging you towards your goals or making it harder for you? How can you change this? Do you have the right team around you?
“I don’t have time.”
“Time is a created thing. To say ‘I don’t have time’, is just you saying, “I don’t want to make it a priority”
If you really want to make change, you have to make the time.
What areas of your life are consuming your time that could be better used? How can you utilise your time better? How can you plan your time to ensure you do the activities that will move you towards your desired outcome? Do you have a plan to be effective with your time?
“It’s too late to change.”
Everyone’s life runs on their own clock. By attaching yourself to a time frame, you limit the vast potential you have to achieve anything and rule out all the time you have left to create what you desire.
What have you given up on because ‘it’s too late’? Is it really too late, or is this a limiting belief? Will you let society dictate your rules? Surely by starting and giving something your all, you can at least say “i tried”.
“I don’t know where to start.”
Depending on how you view it, not knowing where to start can be liberating or overwhelming. In the end, there is no wrong place to start - all you have to do is begin.
We as coaches get this, change is hard, admitting you don’t know what to do is embarrassing, asking for help means you’ve failed… WRONG WRONG AND WRONG
Change makes progress and gives better results.
Not knowing what to do, means you get to learn new skills.
Asking for help shows maturity, outsourcing in life is the fastest way to success and results - whether this be a MOT for your car or a health Coach.
